Procedure to raise a case with HP for hardware issues :

1. Call HP @ 1800-633-3600
2. Option 1
3. Option 2
4. Say Shortcut – Proliant running microsoft
(If the server hardware is proliant with microsoft OS)
5. Else follow the IVR and select the appropriate Hardware and OS.
6. Note the Case ID and followup for hardware replacement.

HP ILO Configuration

HP ILO Pre-Deployment Configuration:

1. Boot the server and verify local console access.

2. During boot, press the F8 key at the ILO prompt.

3. Navigate to the Network “DNS/DHCP” selection:

4. Change the DHCP Enable field to OFF by pressing the space bar.

5. Modify the DNS Name using the format -ilo.

6. Press F10 to save after DHCP is set to OFF and the DNS Name is configured.
7. Navigate to the Network “NIC and TCP/IP” selection.

8. Change the network settings as shown below. Use the IP address configured in DNS. Click F10 to save and exit.

HP SmartStart is a single-server deployment tool that simplifies HP ProLiant server setup, providing a repeatable way to deploy consistent configurations.

1. Boot the required HP Server using SmartStart CD or ISO. This may take several minutes.

Note: Booting an ISO over VPN or WAN may not work properly.

HP SUM (System Update Manager)

HP SUM (System Update Manager) utility is used to install the latest available updates for firmware and softwares installed on HP servers. On excecuting the HPsum.exe it will ask for the location of the updated available. Browse the desired location and choose the available options as mentioned below:

1. Both

2. Firmware Only

3. Software Only

Click on "Start Inventory" and on next screen choose "local host or remote host".

Utility will check for the latest updates and will show the results with the options for Bundle filter as displyed below:

1. Allow non-bundle versions

2. Allow non-bundle products

3. Force All bundle updates

You can force reboot after installation. Once, done your server is update with latest software and firmware updates.

NIC Teaming

NIC Teaming using HP NCU.

1. Perform the initial installation of HP Network Configuration Utility (NCU) and open the utility.
2. Select the network adapter ports for a team.
From the NCU main page, highlight two or more network adapter ports. Then, click the Team icon.
3. Set the team type Automatic.
a. Click the Properties icon on the NCU main page for the newly formed team (white team icon).
b. Under Team Type Selection on the Teaming Controls tab, notice that Automatic (Recommended) is
already chosen. This is the default setting for new teams.
c. Note the name assigned to the team in the Team Name window (for example, HP Network Team #1).
d. (Optional) Rename the team by changing the text in the Team Name window.
e. Click the OK button on the Team Properties page when finished.
4. Apply all changes.
a. Click the OK button on the NCU main page.
b. Click Yes when asked if all configuration changes should be applied.
c. Wait until the All Configuration Changes Were Made Successfully dialog box appears.
5. Assign an IP address to the team.
a. Open the Network Connections (in other words, Network and Dial-up Connections) window from the Control Panel.
b. Under Device Name (in the Details view), open the Properties page for the device with the same name as noted in step 3.
c. Assign the appropriate IP address information based on the connected network requirements.
